The Travelers

Howdy! The name's Elyse DeBuck and I am 22 years of age! I am a senior at Texas A&M studying Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Sciences. I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Kenya during the summer of 2011. I was unsure about where God was taking my life until I experienced this trip! After 2 weeks in Africa, my career goals took a turn. Missions are my passion. I am so blessed that I get to lead this team of ladies to Kenya this summer! I can't wait to see what adventures God has in store for us. I love working with Imani and have been blessed with the ability to invest in the lives of the people of Mombasa. Please be praying for the hearts of our team to be tender and ready to embrace what comes our way. Pray that the Lord will protect us and those that we visit! Missions are powerful and life changing. My girls are in for a trip of a lifetime!
"For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline." -2 Timothy 1:7

I'm Lindsey and a sophomore International Studies major at Texas A&M. I chose to go to Kenya this summer because it's something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. I've always been interested in learning about other cultures and visiting different countries. When I graduate from college I want to volunteer in the Peace Corp so I also thought this would be a good opportunity to learn what it is like to volunteer abroad. I'm so excited to experience what life is like in Kenya and help out any way possible. Also, I hope I am able to help make a positive impact in their lives.

Howdy! My name is Hannah Swain and I am a member of the Fightin Texas Aggie Class of 2015! Currrently, I'm on BlinnTEAM, but I plan on majoring in Communications focusing on Public Relations. My journey to find Jesus Christ was an incredibly, wild ride, but when I found Him as my Savior, I never wanted to let go. Starting last May, I began praying for the Lord to send me somewhere on a mission trip. That summer, while on a mission trip to Ohio with my church, God placed Africa on my heart. I knew it was the answer to my prayers. I was being called to go to Africa. Immediately, I began searching for a team, in God's divine plan, I discovered Imani. I can't even remember how I came across the Imani website, but I did and continued to pray about it to see if this is where God wanted me to go. A few months later, Breakaway Ministries had a Ministry Fair where Imani had a table set up. It was one of the first tables I drifted towards, knowing this is where God was directing my steps. I have already been so blessed by my incredible team, and I look forward to the times we share in Kenya! I can't wait to be in Kenya to love on the amazing people there and be used a vessel for God. I hope that in all my actions, I will glorify God and show the people of Mombasa the love of Christ. I feel a calling to be a missionary in Africa, and I can't wait to see if this is where God has placed my future!
Hey everyone, my name is Jessica Varley and this summer, I am going on my first mission trip to Mombasa, Kenya!!  I am 26 years old, graduated from SHSU and now working full-time. I turned my life over to Christ on November 3rd, 2010 at my beloved church and what an amazing adventure the Lord has brought me on so far.  I am head over heels in love with my Savior and just want to show the world His amazing love and mercy.  I can't wait to see what He has in store for this trip and for the rest of my life!  Thanks for being a part of this journey with my team and I!

Hey there! I am KaRonna Bass: 20-year-old junior at Texas A&M. I am studying Agricultural Economics with a minor in Sociology and I love Jesus with my whole, entire heart! I am from a tiny place in Texas called Troy – population 1,500. In Troy resides my dad Kenneth (my personal life guide), my mother Tammye (my best friend), and my not-so-little-anymore 17 year old little sister Kasey (my inspiration) who is about to graduate high school! I have an undeveloped hobby of photography, laughing is my favorite past time, and I get inexplicable joy from making someone smile. This past year, God has radically renovated my life, and He started with calling me to rehabilitative missions. I deeply long to help women and girls who are rescued from sex trafficking by establishing a faith-based rehabilitation home for them; a home in which they would be endlessly showered with God’s love, told about His unending mercies, and showed what His enduring grace looks like. Although I know that calling is a ways down the road, in the mean time I am passionately pursuing Him with everything I have and am. I know completely that the door He opened for me to spend an (amazing) summer in Kenya is directly correlated with the unimaginable future He has in store for me – and I cannot wait to see what astonishing things He is going to do! I am so glad you are here to support us through our journey, and give praise along with us for all that He will do and is doing!“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said ‘Here I am. Send me.’”  - Isaiah 6:8

My name is Laura Rovenstine, and I am a part of the Texas A&M class of 2015. I heard about Imani at a ministry fair called GO! Missions, and knew it was the company I wanted to venture into the wilds of Africa with. I have wanted to go to Africa for some time now and the fact that God has placed an opportunity right in front of me is incredible. I am excited to get to Kenya and see the Lord move in miraculous ways…I am expecting mighty things! I am ready to build relationships and see God’s plan unfold before my eyes!
